Burton Qualifiers Tour Stop 3: Almighty Utah

Combine Utah’s claim for the “Greatest Snow on Earth” with a scene that literally spawned modern day urban riding and you have the makings of an all-time event for stop 3 of the Burton Qualifiers tour. Brighton Resort was the destination, and steady snowfall all day was a welcome sight for the region’s top up-and-coming riders. It was near whiteout conditions at times, but with a $20,000 prize purse on the line, it didn’t seem to matter. Brighton’s legendary park crew shaped up a mix of jibs and a jump, including a rollercoaster box, which gave riders plenty of options to flex their muscles. The rollercoaster even coughed up at least one move that may or may not be a first-ever in competition. In the end, paychecks went to the top three in both the Open and 15 & Under divisions, while the top six in each division got an invite to the tour finals at Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. Utah was the third of six Burton Qualifiers stops across North America.
